The Wedding - part 1

Dear Friends, I am sorry it has taken so long to post but I hope you will forgive me.  I have been busy enjoying my week with my husband.  The time before the 11th since my last post, I have no excuse except that we were saving money and not really going out.  We played a lot of World of Warcraft (getting our 2 characters to Lvl 90 during this past week :D )

Now I have pictures and video for you from our wedding...I hope you enjoy them :)

So the day started out in a frenzy trying to get showers and our stuff together to make it to Dordrecht.  No I don't have photos from that...I think you might be grateful.

We walked down the street to his parents' house and I saw this...

Pretty little yellow and orange balloons lining the path to the front door.  Once we got inside there were even more decorations. Piet and Corrie really made the day special for us.

We had a nice lunch of cheese sandwiches before it was time for Lars to get ready and Christa to do my hair.
As you can see, getting one's hair done is not an attractive process but I had to post this photo.  For the rest of the day Christa was behind the camera.  I could not have gotten through the day without her...and all this was after her shift at work.  Thank you so much Christa...you were a lifesaver and a very sweet person.  I enjoyed meeting you.

In Holland, it is traditional for the guy to arrive a the house with the bride's flowers and escort her to the place of the wedding.  In 2010 I learned of this when I did a wedding book as a gift for Lars' parents for their 40th anniversary.
There is a very non-graceful photo of me coming down the stairs but I am not including it....it looks more like I'm falling :)  Oh fine....but please don't make fun....
I did not edit this, as you can see.  I'm mainly only adding it here because of the lovely balloons that lined the railing.  So after I safely made it down the stairs I met Lars and he handed me the beautiful yellow roses and we snuck in a kiss.  We hadn't seen each other in an hour...it was a difficult time :).

We gathered our wits and headed outside.  His parents drove us to Stadhuis (thank goodness - its a bit of a walk and it had just started to snow.)

We came around the corner toward Stadhuis and I saw that they had rolled out the red carpet for us...my heart was very happy.

We went inside and waited for the wedding guests to arrive and met with the woman who would be performing our ceremony.  She spoke English some, which was a blessing. The guests were seated and then it was our turn to enter...

(I'm working on getting videos uploaded now...part 2 should be up today :)
